Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
An important representative said the attack left him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
